SPC Cycling team had their first outing on Sunday, July 11th in the Ardenne Mountains of Belgium. The team was lead by Captain "Ollie" Dominiak and his dad Robert, both employees at SPC International. They were joined by " Flip" Van Limbergen, regional salesman for the Belelux and Mike Hobin. Missing was the German champion Frank Schilbach and Christer Holmval "le grimpeur", who was travelling in Asia. The "Le tour d'Ardennes" started in the small village of Spa, famous for it's clear water and being the original site were vacationers started enjoying the leisures of a spa a few hundred years ago. Spa, in the French speaking part of Belgium, is about 1 hour east of Herentals, the headquarters for SPCI. It was a cloudy day about 15 C with a few showers. The rain didn't slow the group down, as they completed the 87 KM ( 53 mile) ride in about 4 hours. The Ardennes were beautiful and lush, the roads serene and challenging. It was a great day of cycling and camaraderie. A special thanks goes out to Geert Mans, the SPCI comptroller and his family, Diane, Robbe and Stef. The Mans family were the support team that drove behind the group and kept us healthy and safe.
